Asian Academy Creative Awards UpdateLatest NewsPress Releases

HO CHI MINH,  JUNE 6th, 2019:

The Asian Academy Creative Awards (“AAA”) launched its 2019 entry period at a special industry networking event in Ho Chi Minh.

Asia-Pac’s most prestigious awards for creative excellence were on full show at the BHD Creative Spaces, thanks to AAA Ambassador for Vietnam, NGO THI BICH HANH (Vice President BHD/Vietnam Media Corp).

Forty categories make up the awards programme for 2019 which are open to twenty nations and territories from across Asia Pac.

Two new categories were highlighted with the AAA’s latest award for Best Feature Film which, along with the award for Best Sports, will make their debut when the winners are announced at a special Gala event in Singapore this coming December.

AAA President Michael McKay also announced that entries are now being received in the category for Best Adaptation of an Existing Format where the Vietnamese version of Korean hit drama “Descendants of the Sun” is tipped to feature strongly.

The director of the series Buu Loc and its female lead Ka Ngan attended the launch and were keen to get a first-hand look at the golden “Goddess of Creativity”.

“Vietnam has a much-admired pedigree of adapting international formats over many years” McKay noted, and praised the efforts of Bich Hanh and BHD for adaptations such as Ugly Betty, Glee, Vietnam Idol, Got Talent, Amazing Race and Master Chef.

“The Asian Academy Creative Awards has quickly established itself as a must-win award that gains international recognition around the world” “I encourage all Vietnamese creatives to submit their entries and showcase our country’s best works”.

Asian Academy Creative Awards CEO, Fiona McKay noted the pride winners showed when claiming a golden ‘Goddess of Creativity’ statuette came from just how difficult it is to win “firstly you need to be judged the best in your category for your nation by a panel of local jurors, then go on to represent Vietnam at the Gala Finals in Singapore, competing against the best of the best” she told the assembled media executives and creatives.

The Awards, including its glamorous red carpet, will be telecast to 34 countries across the region with Vietnamese fans able to catch it on the Danet, the leading legal video on demand service.
