Itaru Mizuno is a creative director and scriptwriter born in 1989, Nagoya, Japan.

He has been working for the production division of Nippon TV since 2012, where his creative projects cover comedy, thriller, mystery and also feature films.

His recent work is the Japanese TV series Rebooting (2023), which drew more than 15million viewers on broadcast, 35million viewers on streaming services (Hulu Japan and TVer, an AVOD service) (as of Aug 16th, 2023), has already won 4 domestic TV awards and become the number 1 hit in Japan for the first half of 2023.

It has also been successful internationally, especially in Asia, and become a finalist for the Magnolia Awards of Shanghai international TV festival 2023, nominated for the Content Asia awards 2023 for the Best Director, nominated for Best Scriptwriter at the 2023 BIFF Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards. Moreover, it was the winner for Best New Scripted Series, Non-English Language, at TBI’s Content Innovation Awards 2023.

Double Booking (2020) was nominated for C21’s International Drama Awards as the Best newform drama series and internationally co-produced series CONNECTED (2022) was developed as a sequel of Double Booking. It was aired prime time in April 2022 and attracted more than 13 million viewers and high engagement especially from young audience, and became the number one twitter trend. It has been optioned for adaption in the U.S. market by Tomorrow Studios, an ITV Studios partnership.

Having spent his childhood in Falls Church, Virginia, he is a bilingual of Japanese and English and has cultural understanding of the global society as his background.
