(Singapore) May 18, 2021: Former Singapore Media Festival Chair, Mr. Robert Gilby, has stepped up to lead the highly regarded “Academy Campus”, the skills development and training arm of the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA).

Mr. Gilby accepts the honorary position of Chairperson, Academy Campus, replacing NBCU’s Ms. Christine Fellowes who steps down after three years in the role.

The Academy Campus provides industry specific training and up-skilling programmes for production professionals and media students.

“As SMF Chair I was able to witness first-hand the outstanding work done by the AAA and its Academy Campus” Mr. Gilby said, then added “the AAA has established itself as an invaluable member of the industry’s ecosystem by not only promoting Asian storytelling to the rest of the world but also providing valuable training and skills development initiatives”.

AAA CEO Fiona McKay is a passionate advocate of the Academy Campus and welcomed Mr. Gilby and extended her thanks to Ms. Fellowes “Christine was our inaugural Chair and provided so much drive and support, we cannot thank her enough” then added “we know that will absolutely continue under Rob’s stewardship”.

Mr. Gilby is Managing Director, Global Partnerships & International for Age of Learning Inc. and is a member of the Singapore Ministry of Communications Media International Advisory Council. He was a board member of the InfoComms Media Development Authority (IMDA) and its predecessor Media Development Authority (MDA) for almost six years and spent twelve years in senior leadership roles with the Walt Disney Company, most recently as Managing Director, Southeast Asia.

Outgoing Chair, Ms. Christine Fellowes will continue to support the AAA in an advisory capacity, known within the AAA as a Special Envoy. “The AAA have quickly proved themselves as a true Academy for our industry. The Campus has impacted thousands of creative and media industry students and executives from around the region, with wide support from leading academic institutions” said Ms Fellowes.
