INDIA’S TRAIL OF GOLD AT ASIAN ACADEMY CREATIVE AWARDS
SINGAPORE 6th December 2019:
India emerged the big winners from tonight’s Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA) Gala Final.
Netflix series “Delhi Crime” claimed Best Drama Series, Best Actress In A Leading Role for Shefali Shah, Best Original Programme By A Streamer/OTT and Best Direction (fiction) for Richie Mehta.
Gully Boy backed up India’s strong presence in Singapore tonight by winning the inaugural Best Feature Film thanks to its International Oscar entry “Gully Boy”. A win for Cartoon Network’s animated series “Lamput” saw India finished the 2 night awards showcase with 6 national wins to their credit.
But Indonesia wasn’t too far behind, snapping up Best Actor In A Leading role for veteran Oka Antara, for his exceptional work on “Brata” from HOOQ. Jamie Aditya joined the party for HBO with Best Actor In A Supporting Role for Grisse.
One of the big surprises of the evening was Myanmar’s victory for Best Supporting Actress In A Leading Role thanks to 10 year old Pyae Pyae for her outstanding performance in the thriller “The Only Mom”.
China scored an imposing victory with “Story of Yanxi Palace” taking home Best Telenovela or Soap Opera as well as the highly sought after Best Non Scripted Entertainment for Hunan TV’s “World’s Got Talent”.
Korea’s adaptation of “Designated Survivor” earned CJ ENM one of two wins, the other being for “300: WAR OF UNITED VOICES” in the category of Best Music or Dance Programme.
Not to be outdone, Singapore scored two more wins this evening (for a total of 4) with Beijing to Moscow (Best Theme Song or Tile Track) and MTV’s Yung Raja for Best Lifestyle or Entertainment Host. Viu Malaysia chimed in to claim the two Goddesses for Comedy Programme and Performance.
The awards were staged at Singapore’s historic Victoria Theatre and got off to a spectacular start with Loren Allred, the original singer of “Never Enough” (from the hit musical The Greatest Showman) jetting in from New York exclusively for the AAA’s.
