OLI PETTIGREW WON’T BE GROUNDED AS 2019 ASIAN ACADEMY CREATIVE AWARDS HOST

SINGAPORE OCT 7, 2019:

The Asian Academy Creative Awards has announced its host for this year’s Grand Awards and Gala Finals, to be staged in Singapore this coming December as part of the Singapore Media Festival.

Hong Kong-born Oli Pettigrew will be jetting back from the USA to host the Asian Academy Creative Awards for a second consecutive year.

E! Entertainment’s Yvette King crossed to the USA based studio of Oli’s daily, nationally syndicated, TV show “RightThisMinute” where the jovial host made fun of his much talked about non-appearance for the opening night of last year’s inaugural awards.

“I think the only reason the award’s organisers are having me back this year is that I still ‘owe’ them a night from last year when I got stranded in San Francisco and didn’t make it until the awards were already underway” Oli Joked.

And this year organisers are flying Oli in extra early to make sure he’s in Singapore in plenty of time to present both awards nights before rushing back to his hosting duties for RightThisMinute.

So, given last year’s flight drama did Oli re-think coming back to Singapore for the 2019 Awards? “Not for a second, I loved last year’s awards, it was great to see how much the industry has flourished and I hear this year it’s even more competitive, so there’s no way I’d miss it, no way,” he said.

Oli has hosted shows for AXN, HBO Asia, Cinemax, Discovery Channel, TLC, Channel News Asia and Food Network. He famously hosted Cash Cab Asia for AXN, attracting plaudits from TV execs across the globe for his work on the franchise.

“Oli is an exceptionally talented host who makes it look so easy, which of course is the great skill” said AAA President Michael McKay.

To be held in Singapore on December 5 and 6, the Asian Academy Creative Awards has attracted significant entries from 16 Nations/Territories across the Asia Pacific including India, Malaysia, China, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Thailand and host nation Singapore.

Regarded as Asia-Pac’s most prestigious award for creative excellence with a trophy designed by the same New York-based company that produce the statues for the Emmys and Golden Globes.

“The Goddess of Creativity” as the award is nicknamed, is surprisingly heavy” noted Oli, “I think the first thing you notice is, this is one serious award, beautifully crafted and obviously one you’d want to win at least once in your career”.

“Is there an award for best host of the AAA’s? Because I feel like my chances are pretty good to get my hands on one of those Goddesses” Oli quipped with his trademark cheeky grin.
