ASIAN ACADEMY CREATIVE AWARDS NAMES 2019 GALA VENUE
Asia-Pac’s most prestigious awards for creative excellence, the Asian Academy Creative Awards, has announced the venue for its star-studded 2019 Grand Awards and Red Carpet. The Asian Academy Creative Awards for 2019 will be staged within one of Singapore’s grandest and most historic buildings: The Victoria Theatre.
Built in 1862 as the Town Hall, the Victoria Theatre played host to early theatrical performances and significantly, was the venue for Singapore’s pilot television broadcasting service, “Television Singapura” back in February 1963.
The Victoria Theatre was, indeed, an original home of storytelling in Singapore and even housed the colony’s library from 1862 to 1876. The theatre was renovated in 1909 and re-opened to a performance of The Pirates Of Penzance. It underwent a major, $180m renovation from 2010-2014.
In 2019, the historic Victoria Theatre will play host to the finest content creators from across the Asia Pacific region as the coveted golden “Goddess of Creativity” statuettes are presented across 40 categories over two nights (December 5th & 6th).
The celebrated AAA Red Carpet will be staged indoors within the impressive Central Atrium that connects the Victoria Theatre and the Victoria Concert Hall.
“This is the spiritual home of performers for over 150 years and 56 years ago local TV took its first tentative steps in this very theatre,” said AAA President Michael McKay in announcing the Awards venue.
The most historic of Singapore’s theatres, The Victoria Theatre, stands ready to stage the 2019 Asian Academy Creative Awards and to welcome the best of Asia-Pacific’s TV, Film and Content Producers to Singapore in December.
The Asian Academy Creative Awards are a constituent event of the Singapore Media Festival and hosted by the Singapore Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA).
