With over a decade of experience in the international film industry, Marcus has worked with the like of Pathe, the Hong Kong International Film Festival, and HBO Asia, on partnerships and co-productions.
Most recently, he directed the feature film The Man On The Other Side / Der Mann auf der Anderen Seite, a spy thriller set in East Germany during the Cold War.
The film won the Festival Prize for Best Feature Film at the 2019 Montevideo World Film Festival, and was followed by a limited theatrical release in Singapore in 2021. It is scheduled for release on Netflix Europe from Dec 2022. The film was the first theatrical co-production between Germany and Singapore.
Since 2008, he has been a correspondent for Variety in Asia and has moderated numerous panels on international media and content creation.
Marcus Lim established the seminal programme on Shakespeare Film Adaptations at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, a course he teaches to this day.
