Azhar has spent the last 15 years as a faculty member at Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Business Management. As the course chair for the Diploma in Mass Media Management, Azhar has a demonstrated history of working in higher education and integrating it with real-work industry projects. His students have collaborated and produced short and long-form digital content for international broadcasters such as Fox+, Fox Sports Asia, HBO, Asian Food Channel, Lifetime, Mediacorp, Cartoon Network and Warner TV Asia. Under his supervision, his students have also worked on events such as Wimbledon, one of the oldest and arguably the most prestigious tennis event in the world; the Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix; the HSBC Women’s Champions as well as Singapore’s very own National Day Parades.
Prior to academia, Azhar spent 11 years working as a broadcast journalist and producer for companies such as sports broadcast giants ESPN, media company World Sport Group and the Television Corporation of Singapore (MediaCorp’s predecessor). He covered many major sporting events such as the Commonwealth Games and the South East Asian Games and reported from cities such as Beirut, Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul, Manila, New Delhi. He also produced major sporting tournaments such as the English Premier League, The Spanish La Liga, ICC World Cup cricket, ATP and Tennis.
